| The PROFIT 2007 Investment Conference is a component of the ProInvest programme, a common initiative of the European Commission and Institutions from the ACP States (Africa, the Carribean and the Pacific). PROFIT is the first stage of a programme to develop and support the Tourism sector, which is a major challenge for the ACP States. In this context, PROFIT 2007 will mobilise the major actors involved in the field of Tourism in East Africa and Indian Ocean as well as in Europe, bringing them together at a Regional Investment Conference due to take place from the 27th to the 29th June 2007 in Kampala-Munyonyo (Uganda). Some 250 to 300 high level delegates will take part in the Investment Conference to discuss project proposals and to negotiate cooperation agreements. For the attention of the Investment Promotion Agencies of Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as from the Indian Ocean, Pro?Invest wil organise a one and a half day TRINNEX workshop before PROFIT 2007. This workshop will only be accessible upon invitation and will be realised in partnership with the UIA - Uganda Investment Authority www.ugandainvest.com, UNCTAD www.unctad.org and WAIPA www.waipa.org, it will focus on investment trends in tourism, the links between investment and trade in the sector, as well as the impact of EPAs on the sector. Profit objective PROFIT has the objective to mobilise the key African and European stakeholders and players in the Tourism sector: a.. Private and public enterprises b.. Policy decision-makers c.. Professional associations d.. Investment promotion agencies e.. Cooperation agencies f.. European, international and regional financial institutions. This Investment Conference will allow participants: a.. to meet the top decision makers and key actors in the targeted sector b.. to anticipate demand in rapidly changing markets c.. to identify business and Euro-African cooperation opportunities d.. to benefit from a preferred access to financial and development institutions (European Investment Bank, CDE, Pro?Invest etc.), contacts with high-ranking representatives of Ministries and intermediary organisations. The main focus of PROFIT will be the one-to-one business meetings between European and African participants. After this Regional Investment Conference, entrepreneurs and intermediary organisations will be in position, if their proposal is eligible, to benefit from Pro?Invest for tailor-made technical assistance, aiming at: a.. speeding-up the implementation of enterprises' development and modernisation projects b.. strengthening the capacities of intermediary organisations committed to investment promotion. |
